Autor: Johann Nepomuk Hummel
Para: Mandolina y guitarra
Nivel: Intermedio
Información:
The Hummel Concerto in G is in the British Library. There are two different mandolin parts: the original in Hummel’s hand dates from 1799. This version also has alternatives added in at a later date. The second part seems to date from later on and also appears to be in Hummel’s hand. This later version has quite significant changes to the 1st and 3rd movements but more subtle changes in this slow movement (the 2nd). It is the later version which is published here.
The guitar part is an arrangement by Craig Ogden of the orchestral scoring. This mandolin and guitar version was recorded by Alison Stephens and Craig Ogden for their very successful CD “Music from the Novels of Louis de Bernières” on the Chandos label (CHAN 9780) in 1999.
Performance Notes:
This is a wonderfully charming and graceful piece. In this arrangement the guitar and mandolin sounds should blend to create a beautiful and translucent sonority, perfect for the character of this piece.
